Carina is a second generation Filipinx/El Salvadoran queer and revolutionary full-spectrum doula and astrologer. In an effort to embrace both of Carina's ancestral lineages, Carina is committing to the re-learning of advocacy and support for families on their journeys of pregnancy, labor, postpartum, miscarriage, loss, and abortion — informed by ancestral guidance, communal participation, and intuition. In re-membering this ancient wisdom, Carina rejects harmful patriarchal systems and resists colonial structures of all forms.
Carina provides additional support by bridging birthwork and astrology to instill a sense of calm, understanding, and presence through a person’s sacred journey. Carina holds a BA in Sociocultural Anthropology with a minor in Ethnic Studies from the University of California, San Diego, and is a mother of one whose existence informs this work. Carina received their full-spectrum doula training through the Birthworkers of Color Collective and continues to learn through seasoned birthworkers in the community, elders, children, and the activation of ancestral blood-memory.
In and out of this work, Carina of Tandaan Mo (to remember) La Tierra (the land) aims to uplift, support, honor, advocate for all divine portals, and continually learn as the journey through birthwork unfurls.

Full-Spectrum Birthwork
Carina’s full-spectrum birthwork consists of intersectional, person-centered support for someone’s journey through pregnancy, labor, birth, postpartum, miscarriage, loss, and abortion. After assessing someone’s specific needs via an alignment call, a care plan is implemented over months at a time. Carina offers support privately and as a Medi-Cal approved doula.

Astrology readings take many forms via general chart analyses, horary oracle cards, and many more. Full readings range from 1 to 2 hours, with voice memo readings ranging from 10-15 minutes. These readings involve intentional observation of one’s unique cosmic makeup to identify any aspects and/or analyze current transits in the sky as it relates to someone's placements.

Outside of the direct person-centered support that comes with birthwork, Carina provide’s peer counseling assistance to bolster a person’s ability to begin and maintain the multilayered journey of breast/chest feeding. Childbirth education offerings coming soon.

Medi-Cal Doula Services
on January 1, 2023, the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) established the Medi-Cal Doula Benefit which covers nonmedical support services provided by a doula, such as emotional, physical, and educational support during pregnancy, labor, delivery, the postpartum period, including after miscarriage or abortion. Covered services are made possible through both managed care and fee-for-service plans. Services include an initial visit, several additional visits, support during labor and delivery, with specific visit limits and provisions for extended postpartum care and support after loss/abortion.

What does a doula actually do during labor?
A doula offers non-medical emotional, physical, and informational support. This may include breathing techniques, positioning suggestions, partner guidance, and clear communication with your care team so you can focus on birthing with confidence.
Most families reach out during the second trimester, but we can often accommodate later inquiries. Early booking ensures we can reserve your birth window and begin personalized preparation sessions.
When should I book your services?
For clients that we support privately, there is a sliding scale that is offered, along with a payment plan to ensure accessibility. For Medi-Cal doula services, payment is handled entirely on my end, leaving it out of your hands.
How is payment handled?
As a Medi-Cal approved doula, Carina can take various insurances such as Kaiser, Health Net, Anthem Blue Cross, Molina, and others; as well as handle billing on their end, leaving payment completely out of your hands. Book a consultation with Carina to learn more.
